MouseAbout Foundation

We are a small Non-Profit (#88-2518354) registered in Washington State.  This August will be the 17th year that MouseAbout has hosted a softball tournament in Cle Elum WA to raise money for one or two cancer patients who are in need of financial assistance.

This all began in 2005 when the community got together to help one of their own, Eileen Costello, who was experiencing financial hardship while suffering with cancer.  As well as the softball tournament, the fundraiser operates a snack bar, has a silent auction and sells event merchandise. The majority of this is a result of items donated by individuals, businesses in addition to cash donations.

Eileen “Mouse” Costello, the foundation’s namesake, was an outstanding athlete who played softball both nationally and internationally.  She has been inducted into many Halls of Fame and has traveled the world playing the sport she loved.  Mouse started as a young teenage player in Spokane, WA playing for the Lilacs, played for the Yakima Steelers, Doc’s Blues in Vancouver, British Columbia and finished her career playing for local rec teams in the Cle Elum-Roslyn area.

Not only was Mouse a great athlete and an avid Cougar fan; she was a faithful Catholic and loved children.  She graduated from Washington State University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and spent her career working with children in the public school system as a  Speech Language Pathologist.

At Washington State she played women’s varsity basketball for the Cougs.  Mouse also coached youth basketball in the public school systems as well as CYO.

Mouse was as compassionate as they come, and was always ready to help someone in need.  As a result, when she knew her helping days were coming to an end, she wanted to continue to help.  Hence, she requested the MouseAbout Softball Tournament be continued to help others who were experiencing financial difficulty due to cancer and its respective treatments.

On behalf of the MouseAbout Foundation Board of Directors, we would greatly appreciate if you can contribute to this year’s tournament and keep her legacy of helping those in need continue.
